In celebration of the 26th Week of the Italian Language in the World (2026)—held under the theme “Lingua geniale: ideare, progettare, creare con l’italiano“—the Italian Section, Department of Western Languages, Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University, in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Thailand and the Italian Cultural Institute in Bangkok, would like to invite students, up to the undergraduate level, and all enthusiasts of the Italian language and culture to participate in a short video contest themed “SARÀ L’AMORE PER L’ITALIA.” for the “Premio Somsri” award 2026.
This initiative honors the memory of Ms. Somsri Pobpipugtra— known as “P’Tun” among colleagues in the Italian language and culture community. Ms. Somsri Pobpipugtra graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Chulalongkorn University and received a scholarship from the Italian government to pursue further studies in Perugia, Italy. Upon her return, Ms. Somsri worked continuously in Italian-language organizations for over 30 years. Her most memorable contribution was her service as the coordinator in the Cultural Department of the Embassy of Italy in Thailand.
To dedicate to and commemorate her professional journey in driving and fostering a bridge of Thai-Italian cultural friendship, the “Premio Somsri” award was established to honor her legacy and carry forward her cultural passion.
Participation details:
1. Contestants must create a video content in Italian, addressing the theme “Sarà l’amore per l’Italia“.
2. The video duration must be between 1.5 and 2 minutes.
3. The contestant’s face must be clearly visible in the video.
4. Submit entries via email to: settimana.italiana.bkk@gmail.com
5. All submitted videos will be published on the social media channels of the Italian Cultural Institute Bangkok and Chulalongkorn University.
