The Italian Cultural Institute of Bangkok was founded by an Interministerial Decree on January 4, 2024 and officially inaugurated on December 12, 2024, from that moment on the gradual activation was carried out by setting up the spaces and guaranteeing their operational functionality.
The headquarters is in the city centre, in the district of Pathum Wan, named in 1914 by the Monarch of the time, Rama VII, and originates both from the buddhist temple Wat Pathum Wataram (which in Thai translates to Temple of the Lotus Forest) and from the Palace of The Lotus Pond, Sa Pathum. The area is characterized by a skyline that gives the city a futuristic atmosphere, where temples and skyscrapers stand side by side, while not far from here lies the city’s green lung, Lumphini Park. The headquarters is easily accessible by Skytrain (BTS, Ploenchit Station) and by metro (Lumphini MRT Station).
