4217928f-fc57-4d2d-9c41-ffc880a70304

The project Bel Canto International, dedicated to the Italian tradition of Bel Canto, is organized by the Italian Cultural Institute of Bangkok, the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, and Generation S. E. Asia, conceived and coordinated by Camillo Pellegatta, on the occasion of the 25th Week of the Italian Language in the World (October 13-19), which this year has the theme “Italophonia: Language Beyond Borders.”

The initiative consists of a nine-day Opera Singing Masterclass, during which all participating young opera singers will receive personalized instruction on proper breathing and vocal techniques, dramatization, and the history of the arias each of them has chosen. The event is of great significance, as it is the first of its kind in Thailand, and it fully embodies the idea of a revival of cultural exchanges between the two countries.

The Masterclass also includes a special section dedicated to teaching the art of piano accompaniment.

The aim of the project is to offer young Asian opera singers the opportunity to refine, improve, and develop their vocal technique, learning directly from Fabio Armiliato, one of the most internationally acclaimed opera voices, and Chiara Giudice, a brilliant soprano as well as an accomplished piano accompanist.

The program runs from October 10 to 19 at the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra Music School and concludes with a final concert/recital on October 19, featuring Fabio Armiliato.

Italian Opera is recognized worldwide as the pinnacle of the art of singing, one of the artistic excellences of Italian culture. In December 2023, UNESCO declared Italian Opera Singing an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, marking the 18th Italian recognition as Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Thailand is known not only as the Land of Smiles but also as a Country where music and singing are deeply woven into daily life and cherished in the hearts of its people. This natural sensitivity makes the country the ideal setting for such a unique event.
