“Italia Reloaded. Tradition, Aesthetics and Innovation between Taste and Memory”| “Sip of Italy” Opening Cerimony at NEXTOPIA

The fourth edition of the competition “Capitals of Italian Creativity in the World” was won by the Italian Cultural Institute of Bangkok, in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Thailand with the multidisciplinary project “Italia Reloaded. Tradition, Aesthetics and Innovation between Taste and Memory.” Within this program, “Sip of Italy” is presented as a multidisciplinary event dedicated to the world of coffee, explored through its cultural, social, and sensory dimensions. The inauguration takes place at Nextopia, Siam Paragon, 5th floor (5A) and includes several activities:

  • Registration and opening ceremony at 15:30, with pre‑registration via link: https://forms.gle/3FmbuppKLzYpHN3v9
  • Opening of the exhibition Italian Passion: The Art of Espresso at 16:00 with opening remarks by  H.E. Paolo Dionisi, Ambassador of Italy to Thailand and cutting ribbon cerimony.
  • DJ set with atmospheric music throughout the event by DJ Lazzaro
  • Massimiliano Marchesi, coffee expert and corporate leadership specialist, presents at Nextopia the lecture “Italian Coffee: Curiosities, Traditions and Contemporary Culture” at 18:00. The talk introduces the audience to the distinctive features of Italian coffee culture, exploring the traditions, curiosities, and habits that have shaped the Italian ritual of “having a coffee.” Special attention will be given to how Italian espresso has become a global benchmark for coffee preparation and consumption, as well as to the social role of cafés in Italians’ daily lives. The lecture will offer historical insights, cultural anecdotes, and contemporary perspectives on coffee consumption in Italy.
  • Espresso Academy Italian Coffee Training Institute, Caffè Morettino, Illy, Caffè Vergnano, and Caffè Don Bruno present a live demonstration of different espresso preparation methods and classic Italian coffee-based beverages. The event will allow visitors to discover the variety of Italian coffee preparations and the professional techniques of baristas, offering a tasting experience.
