Call for Applications: 9 “Vittore Branca” Residential Scholarships – 2027
The Giorgio Cini Foundation is offering 9 two-month residential scholarships to cover the costs of living at the “Vittore Branca” International Center for the Study of Italian Civilization on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice.
The call is open to Italian and international doctoral students, PhDs, and postdocs who are under 40 years of age by June 30, 2026.
- Deadline for applications: June 30, 2026 (11:59 PM)
- Scholarship period: January – December 2027
Research Areas
Applicants must submit a research project (approximately 1,500 words) focused on Italian civilization, particularly the Veneto region, preferably focusing on documents held at the Giorgio Cini Foundation.
The eligible subject areas are: art history, history of Venice, literature, musicology, ethnomusicology, drama, early printed books, comparative cultures and spiritualities, digital humanities

The selection process includes a videoconference interview (in Italian or English). The outcome of the evaluation will be communicated to all candidates by October 2026.
